Frequently Asked Questions
In most EU countries, no — provided the bike is a pedelec (EPAC): a motor rated at 250W continuous with pedal assistance cutting out at 25 km/h. That is the legal definition of a bicycle under EN 15194, and it needs no licence, registration, plate or insurance in the majority of member states.
Models with higher output, a higher top speed, or a throttle that drives the bike without pedalling can fall outside that definition and be treated as mopeds. Each product page states the figures. Check your local rules before riding on public roads.
Every range figure we publish is a best case, measured under favourable conditions. Real-world range is always lower and depends on rider weight, assist level, terrain, headwind, temperature and tyre pressure. Cold weather in particular cuts range noticeably.
As a rough guide, plan for around 60–75% of the headline figure in everyday mixed riding, and less again if you rely on a throttle or ride hilly terrain.
Lithium batteries last longest when they are not stored at extremes. Avoid leaving the battery at 0% or sitting at 100% for weeks; around 40–60% is ideal for long storage. Charge indoors at room temperature, use the supplied charger, and avoid charging straight after a hard ride while the pack is still hot.
Treated this way, expect several hundred full charge cycles before you see meaningful capacity loss.
All products at Xvelo come with a 2-year warranty covering the frame, motor and battery. Every unit is inspected before it ships. If something is wrong on arrival, contact us and we will sort it out.

About Folding Electric Bikes
A folding e-bike solves the problem no other bike does: the last mile at both ends of a train journey, and storage in a flat with no garage. Fold it, carry it on, ride off at the other end.
Weight is the whole game
A folder you cannot lift is a folder you will stop folding. Our lightest is 14.5 kg — genuinely carryable up a flight of stairs or onto a train. The fat-tyre folders are heavier (30 kg+) and fold for a car boot, not for a commute. Be honest with yourself about which one you need; it is the most common mistake buyers make in this category.
Small wheels, real range
16- and 20-inch wheels accelerate quickly and make the fold compact. They ride slightly harsher than a 27.5" wheel — which is exactly why the fat-tyre folders exist: the tyre becomes the suspension.
